DANCES WITH WORDS
Registration for Palace Theater, City of Waterbury Dance Program Begins Next Week

WATERBURY – Student registration for the Fall semester of The City of Waterbury Bureau of Recreation and Leisure’s after school dance program, Dances With Words, hosted by the Palace Theater, is being held from 5:00p.m. to 7:30p.m. on September 16 and 17, in the theater’s Box Office Lobby, 100 East Main Street in Waterbury.

Dances with Words is a 12 week after-school dance/movement and literacy program that offers Waterbury residents ages four through fifteen their choice of classes in a variety of dance disciplines divided by age. Classes focus on fostering an appreciation of poetry and dance as individual art forms and creative means of telling a story, while developing the physical skills needed to practice dance as a life long form of exercise. The menu of classes includes, Creative Ballet, Tap, Jazz/Hip Hop, Modern/Improvisation, Ballroom Dance and Movement for Actors, all of which will be determined by student registration.

Fall semester classes will begin the week of September 22, at Wendell Cross Elementary School in Waterbury, and will conclude the week of December 18. The second half of the program will take place in the Spring. Students who re-register for the second semester will have the opportunity to participate in a culminating dance showcase at the Palace Theater in May 2009.
